Understanding Malaria

Malaria is caused by the Plasmodium parasite transmitted through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. The rainy season (April–October) in Ebonyi State significantly increases transmission risk due to stagnant water breeding sites.

Recognising Symptoms Early

Fever and chills, severe headache, nausea and vomiting, muscle and joint pains, fatigue. In children, watch for unusual crying, refusal to feed, convulsions, or rapid breathing.

Prevention

Use insecticide-treated bed nets every night. Apply DEET-based mosquito repellent. Eliminate standing water around your compound. Keep windows screened.
